Chocolate cupcakes

  • To prepare the cupcakes:
  • All-purpose flour - 1 ½ cups
  • Room temperature butter - 1/3 cup
  • White sugar - 1 cup
  • Room temperature egg - 1
  • Milk - 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
  • Baking soda - 1 teaspoon
  • Cocoa - ½ cup
  • To prepare the frosting:
  • Cocoa - ½ cup
  • Softened butter - ¾ cup
  • Powdered sugar - 2 ½ cups
  • Milk - ¼ cup
  • Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon


Preheat oven to 190 degrees C and line a 12-cup cupcake pan with paper cases.

Cream together the butter and sugar in the Masterchef Gourmet stainless steel bowl using the beater on medium speed until light and fluffy.

Add the egg and stir in the vanilla extract then mix.

In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients and put half of them over the previous mixture then pour half a cup of milk and beat well.

Add the remaining dry ingredients and milk and mix until well-combined.

Fill the cupcake cups, 2/3 full, and then bake for 20-25 minutes or until done.

Allow to cool before frosting.

To prepare the frosting: cream together the butter and cocoa powder in the Masterchef Gourmet stainless steel bowl using the beater until well-combined.

Add the sugar and the milk to the mixture gradually, starting with 1 cup of sugar and 1 tablespoon of milk and mix after each addition.

Add vanilla and mix again until mixture is creamy.

Decorate the cupcakes using a knife or a pastry bag.
